INTRODUCTION

Everyone knows the famous spider the “Black Widow” and you might fear this spider but it is harmless as long as you don’t threaten or annoy the spider.Some Black Widows aren't even poisonous! We have a Black Widow in our classroom and she has a little red hourglass

shape that looks like this.

CHAPTER 1

Most Black Widows eat flies,mosquitos,grasshoppers,beetles,and caterpillars.Mmmmmmmm delicious.That would be a great breakfast……….. right ?

CHAPTER 2

Black Widows live in temperate regions throughout the world,including the United States of America,Southern Europe,Southern Asia, Africa,and much of South America. In the United States they exist primarily in the South and West.They may be found in dark,dry shelters such as barns,garages,basements,outdoor toilets(hey don’t laugh it could happen!),hollow stumps,rodent holes,Trash cans or bags,brush and dense vegetation.

CHAPTER 3

A Black Widow spider is 2 inches tall and 3 inches wide. It is 8 centimeters tall and 3 centimeters wide.

CHAPTER 4

A female Black Widow's’ venom is stronger than a Male’s.A male’s can’t kill someone but a female can so watch out room 30.The Black Widows species called the latrodectus and it’s venom when you get bit by this particular Widow the poor person’s nervous system gets hijacked..If you get bitten by a Black Widow,alpha-latrotoxin it would travel to the pre-synaptic regions of your neurons(neurons are very special cells):this is the juncture right between the synapse of 1 neuron and your muscle cells or another neuron and inserts it it’s self into your membrane.Plus a Black Widow's venoms 10 TIMES STRONGER than a rattlesnake's venom.’

Black Widow look scarybut they will soon become interesting and might even seem ……….well…….CUTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So don’t be scared to have a Black Widow in our class be…………………………………PROUD!!!!!!!
